If you are employed then this is already done for you by your employer, but if you are self-employed, or have other sources of income such as from renting out property or from a pension, then you may need to fill out a Self Assessment.
If your income is very simple and straightforward you may be confident tackling this yourself. If you have multiple sources of income or lots of expenses you may find it better in the long run to use an accountant to help you.
